Description
Gamble Rogers State Recreation Area extends
across a barrier island. To the east is the Atlantic
Ocean, and to the west is the Intracoastal Waterway.
The park has a total area of 145 acres, and is a
prime nesting beach for 3 species of sea turtles
from May thru September. The area offers excellent
surf fishing and sunbathing.
During World War II, this park served as a US Army
Air Corp post.
Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown
365 days a year.
Driving Directions
Traveling north or south on
I95, exit 284 (Old Exit 91), travel east on SR100
to A1A (about 3 miles), go right on A1A south to
park (about 3 miles), ranger station on west side
of A1A. North from Daytona Beach along A1A (about
18 miles). South from St Augustine along A1A (about
30 miles).
ACTIVITIES
Full Facility Camping
The Park has 34 campsites that directly
overlook the Atlantic Ocean. All sites have electricity
(30amp), water, picnic tables, ground grills, and
NO SHADE. The campground has a bathhouse with hot
showers and modern conveniences and an RV dump station.
Also, if anyone in your party has special needs,
please let us know and we will do everything possible
to assist you. Whenever available, the Park will
also provide firewood. Although pets are allowed
in the campsite, they are not permitted on the beach.
Also, proof of current rabies vaccination is required.
Fishing
Non-Florida residents must have a saltwater fishing
license.
