Description
The 28,000 acres of Tosohatchee border
19 miles of the St. Johns River in east Orange County.
The land was purchased in 1977 under Florida's Environmentally
Endangered Lands program in order to preserve its
aesthetic qualities and the extensive wetlands that
are essential water cleansing and storage areas
for the St. Johns River.
Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown
365 days a year.
Driving Directions
Tosohatchee State Reserve is located on Taylor Creek
Road in Christmas (east of Orlando).
Heading east on State Road 50, turn right on
Taylor Creek Road and proceed three (3) miles
to the park entrance on your left.
From State Road 528 (Bee-line), take the State Road
520 exit and go north on State Road 520 approximately
1/2 mile, turn right on Taylor Creek Road and proceed
approximately two (2) miles to park entrance on
right.
ACTIVITIES
Camping
TENT CAMPING ONLY. NO RV’S, POP-UPS,OR
CAMPER SHELLS.
FEE: All campsites are $4.00 a night for all
ages.

BAN RESTRICTIONS.
PETS: Pets are not allowed overnight.
CUTTING TOOLS: One ax or hatchet permitted per
campsite. No Machetes. Use downed wood only.
CAMPING IS NOT PERMITTED THE NIGHT BEFORE OR

NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, GUNS, OR FIREWORKS
Our Youth Group area is reserved for non-profit
organizations such as Boy or Girl Scouts of America,
church or school youth groups, 4-H clubs, etc.
Tosohatchee has two primitive backpack campsites,
located approximately 2 ½ and 3 miles from
the parking area/trail head. Each site has a fire
circle, picnic table, in-ground pump (not potable)
and privy. There are no trashcans, so be sure
to carry everything out with you. Each site is
quiet, very remote and truly pristine. Reservations
must be made at least 2 weeks in advance by calling
the park office. Plan to arrive at the park at
least 2 hours before sundown to allow yourself
time to hike in and set up camp.
A horseback campsite is reserved exclusively for
riders and their horses. For safety reasons, only
one group at a time may stay in the campsite overnight;
however, day use riders may park their rigs in this
area. The campsite has a designated fire ring, picnic
table, and an in-ground pump with a water trough
for the horses (not potable for humans). Riders
can picket their horses to trees (NO NAILS PLEASE!)
or bring portable fencing. We advise that you double-halter
stallions when tied to picket lines and use panic
snaps for safety on picket lines. Reservations must
be made at least two weeks in advance by calling
the office. Cost is $4.00 per night per horse/rider.
Be sure to bring proof of negative coggins.
